Clint Bussey's Single "Forest of Distractions" Has Been Released!

After three months of recording and mixing my song, "Forest of Distractions," it has finally been released! This song has a long history, with the music being written far back in 2017. The chorus which now says, "Lost, lost, lost, let me be lost," used to say, "Wrong, wrong, wrong, let me be wrong." The lyrics were finally re-worked and completed a year later, and I played it live both solo and with my band Opposing Suns. The original goal for the song was to record it with my brother, Ashley Bussey, who was in Opposing Suns.

I wanted to record it with Ashley because the words in the song are based on an art project he is actively producing called Blue Woods. In this project there are a series of paintings called The Forest of Distractions. You had to traverse this Forest in your journey to the Blue Woods. It is a forest that brings all of your desires both good and bad to life. Where wrong seems right and dark seems light. It is easy in the forest to mistake the mundane for the sacred or addiction as a path to enlightenment. A tangled wood indeed!

We were very close to recording it in 2020 when Covid-19 hit the world scene and me and my girlfriend Jessica literally headed for the hills and stayed at her parents' mountain house in Fairview, North Carolina. In the years that followed we made a few weak attempts to get Opposing Suns going again, but ultimately we stopped playing together. I delayed putting the song out, hoping that me and Ashley could do it together, but at the beginning of this year I decided to do a solo version of it. I hope that me and Ashley can put a full band version of it together with my new band Purple Country. Until then, check out this version along with my brother's art from his project Blue Woods!
